In the pawnbroking trade for a quarter of a century now, we have not only stood the test of time but also continue to be relevant in the face of evolving consumer needs and keen competition.
From a single pawnshop started in 1996, we have since become an established chain with six stores in major heartland estates across Singapore.
Today, these six stores offer a one-stop point of contact for anyone looking for secured loans or top-of-the-line jewellery and luxury watches from renowned brands from Switzerland and around the world.
Milestones
Our first pawnshop opened in 1996 in Woodlands. Known then as Shing Heng Pawnshop, this was our flagship store for more than two decades, serving a bustling town populated by locals as well as Malaysians working in Singapore. Business continued to grow and we became one of the Top 10 pawnshops in Singapore in terms of total pledges collected.
We opened our second store in 2002, targeting eastern Singapore with a store at Tampines. Two years later, we expanded to the west by opening a pawnshop in Boon Lay.
Over the next few years, we set up four more branches, all in high-traffic locations. Doing so enabled us to reach out to more people from major housing estates.
The first of these four stores was in Bedok (2011), followed by Ang Mo Kio (2012), Marsiling (2013) and Serangoon Central (2018).
Each of these stores is a stone’s throw away from a suburban mall.
Besides seeking to meet the financial needs of our customers, we decided in 2010 to expand our range of services by retailing new as well as pre-owned jewellery and luxury timepieces. We also started providing repair services for high-end watches.
Our flagship store in Woodlands closed in 2017 as the Old Woodlands Town Centre, from where we had operated since 1996, had to make way for the extension of the Woodlands Checkpoint.
To ensure minimal disruption to customers as a result of the closure of our Woodlands store, our Marsiling branch became our key point of contact for those residing in northern Singapore.
